BlueZone Software Announces Availability of New Terminal Emulation Product

Version 5.0 includes advanced password tools, Windows Vistaâ„¢ compatibility and LIPI-based file transfer

ATLANTA - 7 July 2008

BlueZone Software (www.bluezonesoftware.com) today introduced version 5.0 of its flagship terminal emulation software. BlueZone’s terminal emulation software is the world’s most popular replacement for desktop-based terminal emulators, including Extra, Rumba and Reflection. In addition to superior technical performance, organizations are saving 50% – 86% on annual maintenance costs by switching to BlueZone.

According to Steve Bireley, Senior VP of Product Development at BlueZone Software, “We’ve spent the last 25 years making terminal emulation as easy and straightforward as possible, regardless of what environment they are working in. This new version is a significant step forward, and we look forward to our loyal customers being able to make their terminal emulation operations even better.”

Among the key new features of the new product are:

  • iSeries Data and File Transfer through the IBM Licensed Internal Program Interface (LIPI) – This full-featured file and data transfer for IBM iSeries systems includes the upload and download of data files, format conversions, character conversion, multiple language support, and more.
  • Single Sign-on and Password Management through BlueZone.PasswordVault – Users can manage their Mainframe and iSeries passwords and store them in an encrypted security vault. BlueZone.PasswordVault automatically recognizes login screens and uses the stored user ID and password to automate the login.
  • Windows Vista compatibility for BlueZone Web-to-Host deployments – BlueZone Web-to-Host and Served Desktop have new features to work in concert with the improved security system offered by Windows Vista. BlueZone can be deployed on systems with both protected mode and UAC enabled, allowing employees, customers, and business partners to use BlueZone without compromising their Internet security.
  • BlueZone Secure FTP Transfer List feature – BlueZone now allows users to record and playback one or more FTP commands. The Transfer List files can also be created and edited manually using any ASCII text editor. The BlueZone Transfer List feature can also play Attachmate Extra FTP Transfer lists, without any conversion, further easing the migration to BlueZone.
