Telnet Host Connections over Wireless Networks
The Problem
Generally speaking, small mobile handheld devices such as Pocket PC's, tablet PC's, smartphones, etc. are typically used with various wireless and Wi-Fi Internet connections. The mobile nature of these devices are what make them so useful and desirable for so many applications.
It turns out that many wireless applications require one or more connections to Telnet hosts, e.g., TN3270, TN5250 and UNIX/VT, in order to retrieve data that is critical to the mobile application. Telnet has a significant technology limitation when it comes to wireless connections. That is that persistent type connections, like connections used in Telnet connections, are not very tolerant of signal loss and dropout that is often experienced with wireless and Wi-Fi connections.
The Solution
The solution is to use a robust, three-tier architecture that uses HTTP/HTTPS connections to the mobile client and the Telnet connections to the host systems. HTTP/HTTPS was designed for fault tolerant data transmission. It's the perfect architecture for wireless networks. Both BlueZone Access Server and BlueZone HostFront use three-tier architecture to manage Telnet host connections.

Simple web applications can be built in a few minutes to isolate key transactions and make them available to mobile users. Building Web Applications and Web Services for mobile devices is a feature of BlueZone HostFront.
